This is an interesting video & concept about technology in today’s world. Most of us spend a lot of time promoting a blog, website, products, or company on social media, which has become vital for growing one’s business. I, too, have found that most days I end up sitting (alone) at the computer and have actually started to re-structure my ‘work’ time; however, I don’t feel lonely. So, what’s your take on being “Alone Together”?

I saw this video a while back, and while I found it interesting, I noticed that it doesn’t speak at all to any solution. What about trying to achieve some balance? Like you, Kim, I spend a lot of time alone with my computer, but that’s a choice. I also work consciously to create balance, for example, through my involvement with tango; it’s common for me to connect with tango people on, say, Facebook, then meet in person at a milonga. This does take conscious thought and action, though. It’s all too easy to just automatically head for the computer, especially when that’s where our work is oriented, but as writers, living unconsciously is about the worst thing that can happen to our work.
I agree – it’s all about work/life balance and not letting any one thing overtake the others – that’s why it’s good to have other interests (I teach latin and ballroom dancing free for a French club). Thanks for commenting – Happy tango-ing!
