The other morning, while riding the bus, there was a car (with driver inside) that had pulled off/was parked on the righthand side of the two-lane road. The bus had to narrowly pass with inches of space between the two vehicles, when…all of a sudden, as the bus driver pulled up alongside the car, he yelled
at the driver, “Mettez ton cul la-bas!” (Put your a.. over there!) while arm gesturing to indicate around the corner. This all took place through the closed, glass bus door, so the car driver couldn’t hear the remark and only saw wild gesturing — BUTT, I’m sure he got the message!
That same afternoon, I was walking in Nice, with the streets already filled with tourists, when all of a sudden, a lady started yelling at a group of people: “serrez-vous plus à droite et regardez où vous allez tas de graisse de merde!” (stay to the right and watch where you’re going you big sack of ….!)
Unfortunately, bad manners are universal! One time, when I was in N.Y. city, I heard a lady screaming at an elderly person, who was walking her dog and in front of her: “Get out of my way, you old b….!
Apparently the start of the Nice tourist season has already put a few locals on edge — not a common occurrence, but when it does happen, not very ‘nice in Nice,’ — to say the least!
