A seaside restaurant and leisurely stroll along the pedestrian zone in St. Laurent-du-Var,
just next to the sea. Nice tropical-feel place to stop and enjoy the beautiful views, but buyer beware…this ice cream was 14 Euros!

Port of St. Laurent-du-Var
Although the business card for “Le Farfalla” says “soirée disco funk salsa,” it was just a nice lunch at the Port de Plaisance with friends from Nice/Atlanta and their cute dog, Ditto.
It was, in fact, a late-for-France lunch, so we basically had the restaurant to ourselves – a great chance to chit-chat and catch up with old and current news.
We ate leisurely, the meal accompanied by a cool, crisp Provencale rosé (bien sûr!), as we discussed politics and other French-American subjects and got to know each other better.
The port of St. Laurent-du-Var is home to a variety of restaurants, bars, and crêperies situated across from the port and links this area to Nice via the promenade, for a nice walk or bike ride.
Shopping at “Cap 3000” for Sales (Les Soldes)
To take advantage of the (government regulated) twice-a-year sales (les soldes) in France, I recently went shopping (window and otherwise) at Cap 3000 shopping mall, located just west of the Nice airport in St. Laurent-du-Var.
There were a lot of shoppers, and it was interesting taking in all the various window displays.
And of course, lunch was on the day’s menu (see below).

There isn’t an American-style food court, but rather, a few restaurants in the mall – popular, as indicated by the line of people waiting for a table. One even provided a nice bench for customers and, with efficiency in mind, passed out some menus to look at while waiting in line. I got one of the two last available “plat du jour“: veal with mushrooms, served with melt-in-your-mouth potatoes and courgette flan – delicieux!
So, what did I buy? A few pairs of earrings, a small red handbag, a pair of leggings, and this tote to carry my laptop. Happy Shopping!
